BTEC UCAS points table (2026 values)

The clever part is the size: a Certificate counts as one grade, a Diploma as two, and an Extended Diploma as three, so the bigger the qualification, the more points it can carry. BTEC Extended Certificate points

A single Extended Certificate is the most common BTEC people calculate, and at the top it matches one A* A-level. Here are the values:

• D* = 56 — the same as one A* A-level
• D = 48 — the same as one A
• M = 32 — the same as one C
• P = 16 — the same as one E

BTEC Diploma points

Worked example: turning BTEC grades into points

Let us turn real grades into a real number. Say you are taking an Extended Diploma and you are on track for DDM. From the table above, that is 128 points — a strong, realistic total on its own. Now imagine you also complete an EPQ at grade A, which is worth 24 points.

Your combined total is 152 UCAS points. Notice there is no double-counting — the EPQ is a separate qualification, so its points simply add on top. That is the whole logic of the Tariff. How BTEC UCAS points are calculated
